Re: Favourite Films, TV series and Novels

The X-Files (My favorite and helped nurture my healthy distrust of government) I need to re-watch that, I only saw it and in a piecemeal fashion, as a child. Spartacus Altered Carbon Star Trek: Next Generation Those 3 are high on my list - is Altered Carbon as good as it's said to be? Curb Your Ent...

Re: The Good, the Beautiful, and the Left/Bitching about the Cultural Left

I do think that we are likely to interpret the same thing said by men and women slightly differently. For many competitive positions I do think that this will tend to favor men over women. I will admit that this is reversed for certain kinds of positions and situations. I also think that it is a si...

But for it to make a difference, the brand already has to be built up. You can counterfeit a doogee phone, but who will care very much,...

Re: Modern Monetary Theory

What would upholding a trademark entail?

Because fiat currencies are legally privileged in far more ways than simply trademark protections. If all they enjoyed was that, they'd probably wither away pretty fast, absent some improvement to them that makes them desirable.

Re: Thoughts on Modern Intellectuals

Good points. I think the intersection of his work with the alt right/neoreactionary movements is valuable for that reason alone, as it shows that there is a libertarian alternative to the statist measures which some in these movements favour. As someone who straddles both these ideological movements...

Re: Favorite Books

Rational Economic Man (Hollis & Nell) I just order that book on account of it being mentioned in Hoppe's The Austrian Method. I'm happy to see that it's someone's favorite. Could you shortly tell me how is it? It's a good collection of arguments against the positivist method. I read it some 7-8 yea...

Re: The Problem of Size

I wonder if 3D printing will eventually eliminate the need for production centres. My guess would be that it would not, because even if such machines can produce some goods at an acceptable cost, they might still not do so as efficiently as a factory might, where it will enjoy all sorts of advantage...
