Where best to promote the forum?

Post by Physiocrat » Tue Apr 03, 2018 6:40 am

I've pretty much spammed all the relevent Facebook groups I'm a member of. If any of you have any ideas of what websites or forums I could try and be promoted on please add them below.

r/GoldandBlack subreddit. It's not the way the Libertarian and AnarchoCapitalism subs are, which is to say filled with trolls and other not interested in serious conversations.

brainstorms:

does danny sanchez do anything of note that we could try to attach this to? what about stephen kinsella? Maybe you can add some kind of blog roll here? maybe even some kind of youtube connection?

I would imagine the LP party in the UK is small and accessible, maybe we could somehow try to get in touch with that?

Is reddit or twitter good for any worthwhile promotions? I know very little about them.

If we can find ways to launch debated with certain groups: either via, blog, youtube, or opposing forum this could turn into a kind of platform to that. The issue is though the "home view" would have to have a figurehead or two good enough espousing n orthodox and articulate enough a view in the range of any Austrian economic perspective and somewhere in the political /philosophical range of classic liberal to anarcho-capitalist thought if we wished to do something with blogging and youtube.
I have come to feel strongly that the greatest service I can still render to my fellow men would be that I could make the speakers and writers among them thoroughly ashamed ever again to employ the term 'social justice'.

Agreed, I think it's best to let it grow organically.

Some good ideas there. I'll see if anything Dan Sanchez does or whether many of the Mises Institutes could promote us. The LP in the UK I think do know but I'll formally contact them. Using a sticky with suggested websites could be a nice offer in return for them.

As for a debate platform, that could work although I'd want to be sure we'd engage with the best of the opposition to keep the quality high. I think I'll focus on the former for now and see how things go. I'm also really busy at the moment so trying to coordinate the latter could be a little time consuming.

We need more people than we have now to maintain interest. I've been purposefully trying to generate thread content to try and spark discussion, but the fact is that if we don't get traction I'll get bored, you'll get bored, we'll all get bored, and we'll stop checking the the board.

We have not reached optimal size yet, nor even a size that can realistically maintain itself.

My first instinct would be to contact everyone from the old forums as you can realistically get ahold of and to drop us a promotion on every decent looking subreddit that you can.

What I have done so far is plug it on loads of FB groups, LibertyHQ and PMed a few people on LibertyHQ. I don't use Reddit so don't know my way around it.

My principle is this - if we know anywhere online which has intelligent discussion and may find this forum of interest, spam, spam and spam away. The more of us that do it the more people will come. Please don't rely just on me as everyone inhabits different areas of the internet and you will be the best judge as to whether it is a place to spam or not.

I will get onto contacting the organisations I mentioned above in the next few days. Are they any blogs with big traffic which may be interested?

I've got some ideas about a youtube debate with some pretty smart econ and policy/political folks (mostly from the UK) who would fall on a more "left wing" side. If and when you get time let me know and we can maybe come up with a gameplan. If there is a UK election coming up (not sure how UK elections work) that could really help with promoting the site as well as a well established UK mouthpiece for libertarian ideas
